Gracing the cover is a still of a mysterious and beautiful hooded woman from one of the films of Charles Atlas.  He is known for featuring arty and underground fabulous people like Leigh Bowery and Merce Cunningham in his films. Great cover!

Last night Marc Jacobs presented their Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear Collection in New York. The new collection featured several unique latex designs created House of Harlot.

Personally, I doubt it. Nolan’s take on the Batman universe has been much more realistic than what we seen in earlier films and Catwoman would need to have the right tools and armour in order to stand up to Batman. So I would not be surprised, if Nolan’s Catwoman is wearing a amour reinforced leather suit, some form of night goggles, ninja hand claws for scratching and climbing and one or two handguns.

What do you think she will be wearing? Oh and BTW: The photo on the right is photoshopped, so that is not how she will look in the final movie.

Rihanna is out with a new video for her song “S&M”. In the video, Rihanna is wearing four different stylish and colourful latex outfits.

The video features Christina in latex (Atsuko Kudo, House of Harlot and TG Clothing), a Kendra Mac by Agent Provocateur and bondage gear, plus some men dancing in the rain. It’s not as shocking as it probably thinks it is.

Christina joins a long line of performers, models, celebrities and starlets, such as Lady Gaga, Kelly Brook, Rihanna, and many others before them, using latex as a tool to brand their product as something sexy, new and daring.

The media has been lightning fast to hail latex clothing, and especially Atsuko Kudo latex clothing, as the latest must have, for every celebrity with a little self-respect!

The whole fetish scene knew that Atsuko Kudo’s latex was special, right from the first time she appeared on London’s fetish scene back in the summer of 2001. The rest of the world and Christina Aguilera are just catching up now… 9 years later!

Practically every fashion season one sees latex strutting on the catwalk, to add extra spice to the runway. Sometimes latex even makes it to the main street, such as earlier this year when Top Shop offered some one size fits all latex separates, or much earlier when Miss Selfridges sold Skin Two latexwear in the 90s.

Sadly, most of these excursions into the mainstream are a minor blip on the fetish radar, and latex quickly goes back into hiding in bedrooms and fetish clubs worldwide. This spring, however, there’s hope (or horror, depending on how you feel about your favorite material going mainstream)–Walmart, yes, Walmart has entered the latex fashion business!

Judging by the ad, they have a way to go, but of course this new line raises a whole slew of questions, such as Does the average underpaid Walmart employee really know anything at all about the care and feeding of this finicky material? Will its availability at Walmart draw fetishists out of their closets long enough to brave the greeters and the checkout lane? Is it available online? And finally, who on earth chose these styles, and who’s producing them?

Presenters at the awards show are traditionally “slimed” – that is, they are blasted with globs of green goo, to the delight of the audience. But Katy had a secret weapon: her custom dress from Syren. She personally selected the outfit, made of yellow latex with hand-cut metallic blue daisies appliqués, because it meant the slime would literally roll right off her back.

“Latex is probably the only fabric in the world that could carry you from the red carpet, through getting slimed, and on to the after party and still keep you comfortable – and glamorous – the entire time,” said Ann-Marie Holman, of Syren. “Katy could simply wipe off the slime with a sponge, or she could have just taken a shower in the dress to make it as good as new. And the dress was perfect for her: it flattered every curve but was still appropriate for a kid-friendly show. With the sunny yellow and the blue flowers to match her electric blue pinup girl wig, she looked like a lovely comic book character.”
