NLA-International, is a leading organization for activists in the pan-sexual leather community. Now in their fifth year, the NLA-I’s writing awards have received widespread appreciation and support. A “leather first,” they have become the preeminent awards for SM, leather, and fetish writing.

Nominated works should foster education and promote awareness and a positive image of the leather/SM/fetish community. They should entertain and educate, while building awareness and tolerance of the community and showcasing the talents of its members.

I have to admit I’ve always harboured a fetish soft spot for those soldiers of the Imperial Army of the Galactic Empire – the (almost) indomitable Stormtroopers. The armour suits / the masks / the masks / the masks… swoon!

So when I discovered that a beautiful and talented lady here in my very own home town of Brighton was designing and constructing her own creations in the shape of such Cosplay fantasies as a latex Stormtrooper catsuit, my rubber antennae pricked up right away!

Shoshanna Ani is the artistic designer and creator behind Shhh! Couture Handmade Latex. Having worked with latex in the first year of her BA Fashion degree, Shoshanna decided it was time to get creative. After working for a luxury latex clothing boutique as their in-house designer, it seemed natural to progress within latex. After getting her BA, Shoshanna created Shhh! Couture and has steadily risen in the latex world. It is her aim to create fun, exciting and sexy items that anyone and everyone can wear. Ranging from cupcake print dresses to sultry leopard print beauties, Shhh! Couture creates garments that bring out the femme fatale in every woman.

So, back to Stormtroopers…hothothot. For me, there`s only one scenario to top being kitted out in a latex space aggressor’s suit, and that`s to be on the receiving end of some strict discipline delivered by my play partner in a Darth Vader outfit fashioned in heavy rubber. My unholy imagination is rife with kinky space fantasies… beam me up Scotty!

Lüllepop is a young, unique Berlin fashion label. Cathleen Reinheckel and Andre Gawanka are designing latex fashions with clever catchy combinations using textiles and latex in such a way that it’s eye catching and extravagant yet still practical and wearable.

Lüllepop gear is designed to take full advantage of the female form and lure and bedazzle the male of the species. The feminine lines are well brought together using materials such as lace, lycra, fine nappa leather or even knitted materials, all cleverly combined with latex.

Ready for the start of the 15th Erotic Fair in Berlin (Venus) Cathleen and Andre have created a fitting “Desous” collection, which will guarantee to turn some heads, especially among the men.

The “Dolcessa in autunno” collection is in colors spanning from soft Champagne tones, to warm passionate burgundy colors of a deep full bodied red wine. Lüllepop has also used lots of lace to keep the soft feminine touch and combine it with the more raunchy latex fem-dom style. G-strings & triangular bras, and an array of charming panties etc.

Right away, Louva got her ultra-stylish-creative Parisian designing juices a flowing and within no time, an array of stunning outfits began to take shape on paper. With Anton the cool-calm-collected operator, keeping a steady hand & eye on overall developments, drawing on his past experiences with the massive DeMasK parties of EuroPerve fame. Throwing into the mix, their recently appointed assistant, the London fetish-fotographer Luke Lenz, DeMask sure had all angles covered. Dutch, French & English make a truly potent pedigree of kink, a formidable fetish cocktail to serve up a show.

In the 10 weeks between the initial taking the lid of Louva’s creative pen, to the show’s applause almost taking the club’s roof off, a truly mammoth effect went into production with DeMasK’s Amsterdam HQ, became an ever increasing hub of activity.

The big night arrived, the club was heaving and in full blown party mode, then suddenly, the club’s music switched to a different beat, lights shone to a different place, a sure sign that the stage was about to rage! This was the very moment backstage we had all being waiting for, the 10 weeks was now 10 seconds and the ‘q’ to go, we were about to know!

What followed was a show that has since been cemented into the ‘Fetish Hall of Fame’. Those 12 glorious, notorious minutes on stage, are now infamously known as the ‘DeMask’s Dirty Dozen’. The DeMasK stage was an utterly lawless, moraless scene straight from the Temple of a kinky Caligula and oh how the heaving, hedonistic crowd loved it!

The show which featured DeMasK’s latest latex designs of ‘face sitting pants’ and all encased male/female ‘playsuits’, had the crowd rocking and a reeling.

Starring were a ‘Mighty Mistress’, ‘body in bag’, ‘XXX star’, ‘Gorgeous Gazelles’ strutting down the catwalk, ‘Naughty Nurse’ + her 2 nutcases in latex strait-jackets, ‘Sexty Nine’, and with Holland’s finest, Ancilla Tilia being DeMasK’s ‘beautiful bride’, sashaying down the runway in the showpiece wedding gown. A wonderful creation, that had beauty, had style, a fairy-tale charm, with a futuristic Sci-fi sex appeal.

Then came the fantastic finale, an emotional moment with the DeMasK Duo, Louva & Anton, fittingly leading out the cast to receive rapturous, raucous applause!

What was witnessed in that sexsational show were all aspects of DeMask’s DNA, the love & lust of heavy rubber, stylish & outrageous designs of beautiful colours, all drenched and dripping in sexual decadence. Like the famous scene from ‘Spartacus’, after seeing this show, we all took one step forward and said ‘I am DeMasK’! DeMasK sure is back and what an awesome way to announce it!

There’s always a ripple of relief once a show has passed of perfectly, then all around the smiles could beam with even the linear straight DeMasK logo momentarily morphed into a big, curved proud smile to join them.

If you didn’t get to see the show, worry not as more sinful shows will be coming and until then, a video will be screened on DeMask.com to keep the memories simmering.

There’s no doubt a 2nd coming of the fetish scene is now building an unstoppable force of momentum here in Amsterdam, with DeMask once again through it’s designs and it’s famous fetish feasts called EuroPerve, blazing the trail.

But wait, something once again stirs deep down in DeMasK’s creative-cave, there’s no relying on the past, the next show already being pieced together, one link of kink at a time and next spring the whole kinky chain will be revealed to our fabulous fetish friends!

Amsterdam is about to shake & stir the Fetish World once again!

A latex fetish inspired short film by Erwin Olaf who also did a provocative (a dream world to some of us) photo series of the same name in 2003.

I’ve certainly had my fill of it, though I have to say it is slightly more tolerable when wearing rubbery garments concealed beneath long babushka style velvet coats… the other weekend I did venture into the Marks and Spencers foodhall in Brighton wearing my translucent governess blouse from Libidex. Oh how pervy I did feel as I stood next to the old grannies at the fruit counter sqeezing the avocados to test for ripeness…! The flipside of all this kinkiness however, was that I was wearing my thermal vest underneath. Don’t judge. It would’ve been distinctly nippy around the nips otherwise. This weekend though, I intend to do my last bits and bobs of shopping online.

I asked James from Ego Assassin, how they came up with this idea “We got the idea to make latex fishnets because over the years many of our customers have asked us if it was possible to make such a thing. We have always had to say no because we couldn’t think of a way to cut a fine and consistent mesh pattern into latex, and still maintain any semblance of durability. I know that many latex designers — ourselves included — have attempted to solve this problem with a variety of appliqué-based approaches, but the final product was always rather bulky and the look was never quite right.”

He continues “When Kink Engineering announced they would be offering laser-cutting services to the latex industry, one of our first thoughts was that it could be used to finally make a true fishnet latex stocking. We experimented with various laser settings, hole shapes, and mesh densities, until we arrived at a pattern that worked.”

So how the stockings are produced? James explains “The stockings are made by laying a sheet of latex into the laser machine, and cutting the whole stocking in one piece, including thousands of tiny rounded slashes. The piece is then taken out of the machine, the off-cuts are removed, and it is thoroughly cleaned. The stockings are then assembled with one seam up the back and reinforcement around the edges. The end result is a sheer, lightweight, and durable latex fishnet stocking that can be worn on its own, or shined up and paired any latex outfit.”

Pretty cool, right? The stocking are actually leg sleeves witch is a really good thing, as your tiny toes won’t get stuck in the stockings mesh and is simply much more comfortable to wear. I also believe they would also look fantastic on top of regular pair of latex stockings.

I’m sure that we have just scratched the surface of what is possible with laser cut latex, and we can expect much more on this front in the years to come!
