NLA-International, is a leading organization for activists in the pan-sexual leather community. Now in their fifth year, the NLA-I’s writing awards have received widespread appreciation and support. A “leather first,” they have become the preeminent awards for SM, leather, and fetish writing.

Nominated works should foster education and promote awareness and a positive image of the leather/SM/fetish community. They should entertain and educate, while building awareness and tolerance of the community and showcasing the talents of its members.

It would be so thrilling to win, but I’m totally honoured just to be nominated!

I have to admit I’ve always harboured a fetish soft spot for those soldiers of the Imperial Army of the Galactic Empire – the (almost) indomitable Stormtroopers. The armour suits / the masks / the masks / the masks… swoon!

So when I discovered that a beautiful and talented lady here in my very own home town of Brighton was designing and constructing her own creations in the shape of such Cosplay fantasies as a latex Stormtrooper catsuit, my rubber antennae pricked up right away!

Shoshanna Ani is the artistic designer and creator behind Shhh! Couture Handmade Latex. Having worked with latex in the first year of her BA Fashion degree, Shoshanna decided it was time to get creative. After working for a luxury latex clothing boutique as their in-house designer, it seemed natural to progress within latex. After getting her BA, Shoshanna created Shhh! So, back to Stormtroopers…hothothot. For me, there`s only one scenario to top being kitted out in a latex space aggressor’s suit, and that`s to be on the receiving end of some strict discipline delivered by my play partner in a Darth Vader outfit fashioned in heavy rubber. My unholy imagination is rife with kinky space fantasies… beam me up Scotty!

I asked James from Ego Assassin, how they came up with this idea “We got the idea to make latex fishnets because over the years many of our customers have asked us if it was possible to make such a thing. We have always had to say no because we couldn’t think of a way to cut a fine and consistent mesh pattern into latex, and still maintain any semblance of durability. I know that many latex designers — ourselves included — have attempted to solve this problem with a variety of appliqué-based approaches, but the final product was always rather bulky and the look was never quite right.”

He continues “When Kink Engineering announced they would be offering laser-cutting services to the latex industry, one of our first thoughts was that it could be used to finally make a true fishnet latex stocking. We experimented with various laser settings, hole shapes, and mesh densities, until we arrived at a pattern that worked.”

So how the stockings are produced? James explains “The stockings are made by laying a sheet of latex into the laser machine, and cutting the whole stocking in one piece, including thousands of tiny rounded slashes. The piece is then taken out of the machine, the off-cuts are removed, and it is thoroughly cleaned. The stockings are then assembled with one seam up the back and reinforcement around the edges. The end result is a sheer, lightweight, and durable latex fishnet stocking that can be worn on its own, or shined up and paired any latex outfit.”

Pretty cool, right? The stocking are actually leg sleeves witch is a really good thing, as your tiny toes won’t get stuck in the stockings mesh and is simply much more comfortable to wear. I also believe they would also look fantastic on top of regular pair of latex stockings.

I’m sure that we have just scratched the surface of what is possible with laser cut latex, and we can expect much more on this front in the years to come!

Antichrist is an event which threatens to sodomise its rivals with its friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, great chillout area which is perfect for people watching, happy hour till midnight, yummy Thai food for sale, free sweeties, free condoms and tissues, minimal queuing (a real achievement in this packed arena).

However, the Piece de Resistance has to be the very lovely maids serving medicinal free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in the Chillout Zone after 3am. Although I haven`t quite got to the Boy George stage – “Sex? I`d rather have a nice cup of tea,” after a night of Bataillesque excess and depravity, a lovely wee cup of tea goes down just dandy, thank you Antichrist.
