The results? I visit Kaori’s Latex Dreams Etsy store frequently, because she seems to be updating it nearly every day with some new dress or headpiece, all of which are very affordable for the unique design and excellent craftsmanship involved.

3XL pointed me towards this Etsy Store for a London based designer–Ooh La Latex, whose designs beautiful separates, dresses and accessories, including some very detailed corsets. It’s a stunning range!

Other must visits, as spotted by 3XL: Trés Bonjour has added new designs to their range, including what has to be one of the cutest latex handbags ever produced! Take a look at the site to see what else you’ve missed.

Our friends at SavageWear in Berlin are very busy prepping for the upcoming Berlin Fetish Weekend, but apparently not too busy to update their range. New items are still being added to the latest range which currently includes a bit of latex Steampunk!

And finally, of all the latex and high fashion pairings recently, this outfit from Prada has to be my favorite so far. I adore the no-nonsense nerdy edge of their collections, and I especially like how even the latex takes on their practical and quirky edge. Brilliant!

Practically every fashion season one sees latex strutting on the catwalk, to add extra spice to the runway. Sometimes latex even makes it to the main street, such as earlier this year when Top Shop offered some one size fits all latex separates, or much earlier when Miss Selfridges sold Skin Two latexwear in the 90s.

Sadly, most of these excursions into the mainstream are a minor blip on the fetish radar, and latex quickly goes back into hiding in bedrooms and fetish clubs worldwide. This spring, however, there’s hope (or horror, depending on how you feel about your favorite material going mainstream)–Walmart, yes, Walmart has entered the latex fashion business!

Judging by the ad, they have a way to go, but of course this new line raises a whole slew of questions, such as Does the average underpaid Walmart employee really know anything at all about the care and feeding of this finicky material? Will its availability at Walmart draw fetishists out of their closets long enough to brave the greeters and the checkout lane? Is it available online? And finally, who on earth chose these styles, and who’s producing them?

Congratulations to Dawnamatrix on her new title as Miss Rubber World 2010.

Dawnamatrix, who’s probably familiar to LustLoveLatex readers for her stunning latex kimonos, was awarded the title last weekend at the New York Rubber Ball Weekend. Previous year’s winner Jean Bardot was on hand to award her the crown, as well as a panel of fetish celebrity judges. Dawn showed enormous creativity and wit in her competition outfits, which I’m pretty sure were singularly her creation. She’ll have lots of opportunities to wear other designers’ ware in the coming year, though, judging from the thousands of dollars in prizes she’ll collect from fetish shops and designers worldwide!

Lovely Jade Vixen and L.A.’s Goddess Soma were the talented runners-up, and judging from photos already posted of the event, the competition was rather fierce and photogenic. One of these days I’m determined to see the content myself!

Following a recent press article published online in 3xL e-zine, Catalyst Latex report a surge of interest in their range of latex rubber kilts.  To acknowledge this, Catalyst Latex have launched a special promotion on their kilt, and hope this will generate interest in their other products too.

You may recall from an earlier post when I hinted that I’d be posting the ultimate latex kilt in a future update. Well, today the wait’s over. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Catalyst Latex!

Catalyst Latex (Real Clothes in Rubber) is an English brand created by Gord and Mrs. Gord. Gord’s someone I’ve known from various community forums for quite some time, and he’s a fixture at some of the Northern events such as the BBB. Mrs. Gord is an extremely talented dressmaker who started creating pieces based on Gord’s whims and her own inspiration. The site’s packed with very clever designs which are broken down into 4 ranges according to price. Catalyst is the top of their range, and even this range won’t set you back too far considering the detail and tailoring that’s gone into the pieces. While I’ve highlighted their kilt, their mens dress shirts are also a wardrobe essential. I also like their new womens range, which is fresh and well made.

You may recognize the nick Gord from numerous latex forum threads on chlorinated latex, so it will come as no surprise that their shop offers this enhancement on all their products, including entry-priced molded gear.

Laura Petirelli, the driving  force behind the well known Chicago label, Vex Clothing, has given her web site a total makeover. It’s still stylish and distinctive, which we’ve come to expect from everything she puts her hand to, but it’s now much more user-friendly and intuitive, especially the online shop. Do visit, as it’s much easier to navigate and browse. I really am enjoying her new Plus Size sections on the web shop, as the styles presented are as sexy, forward thinking and flattering here as they are for the standard range.

Almost everyone who frequents this blog and others like it already know of Kim West’s exciting relaunch into the latex arena, but for those of us who weren’t around in the early pioneering days, Kim’s About page on her site is an intoxicating read.

There’s also a video interview with Ms West by Tim Woodward of Skin Two online at YouTube, which I haven’t had the time to watch enitrely. You can watch it, however, if you’ve got a few minutes, it looks very spiffy and informative, what I managed to view.

Torture Garden New Years Ball is back-on either at Mass or an alternative
venue:

Following the closure of Mass yesterday, the venue is going to court tomorrow morning to appeal the decision. The legal team and the police and council are very supportive of TG and positive about our chances, and it currently seems 80% + that Torture Garden will go ahead as planned at Mass on New Years Eve. We will confirm this 100% mid-day Wednesday 30th. All 1100 advance tickets therefore remain valid, and new tickets will again be available for sale for TG at Mass.

However, if the event cannot happen at Mass we now have a very good 3 room alternative venue for 800 people also in Brixton. But due to the lower capacity this alternative event will only be for existing ticket holders. We expect ticket prices to be a little cheaper and so existing ticket holders will receive a £6 refund. Those who do not wish to attend the alternative event will be offered a full refund.

Please check with our announcements at mid-day tomorrow for a final decision. But a TG NYE will happen!

Mass Venue Closed Down – Torture Garden New Year’s Eve Ball at Mass is almost 99% Cancelled!

We regrettably have to report that we were informed this morning that Mass, our regular venue of the last 10 years and our location for the Torture Garden New Years Eve event, was served last night with a 28 day closure notice, this is due to information received by police regarding a threat made involving an attack planned on the venue’s security following an incident at another venue last week.

This threat or the closure of the venue had nothing at all to do with Torture Garden events at Mass, or with the company that is used for security at our events at Mass, and we don’t expect it to have any effect on future parties at Mass or elsewhere, but it is an unfortunate knock on effect of a situation that has nothing to do with our parties and was beyond our control. But it seems that at this very late stage we will no longer be able to use Mass for NY Eve.

There is a very unlikely possibility that Mass may be able to appeal and change the decision in time for us to open, but this seems a very long shot.

There was also of course the possibility of us switching despite this late stage to a different venue. However, there are only around 5 venues in London of the scale required to hold a Torture Garden event, and of course they are almost all already booked for NYE events. We have found the Coronet in Elephant & Castle, which was not booked for NYE, but it seems that despite our best efforts today the management do not feel they can organise staff to be able to run a safe and organised event.

We will make final checks in the morning of Tuesday 29th about whether Mass can change the decision or we can relocate to the Coronet, but it seems an unlikely possibility.

Therefore we must warn you that Torture Garden’s NYE Ball is very likely to not happen and if you can cancel hotels or travel plans or book an alternative event at this late stage we have to recommend that you do.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience, and we understand how important your NYE party is, as it was for our friends and ourselves, and also that many of you are travelling long distances or even from abroad. But we hope that you appreciate that this was completely beyond our control, and totally unexpected at a venue we have used for over 10 years. In fact we haven’t lost a venue for a TG event since around 1993, and never for such an important date as NYE.

To conclude, please make a final check with us at mid-day Tuesday 28th for any last minute rescue plan, but otherwise TG’s NYE Ball is off. We will refund anyone who has purchased an advance ticket asap.

Regarding refund procedure, please give us a few hours tomorrow to release a statement regarding how to go about receiving refunds.

Again, as you can imagine, we are very sorry to let you all down and we hope you can make alternative plans for NYE.

Our next event will be at SeOne on 13th February 2010 and that event will not be affected in any way by the problems at Mass.
