Heavy rubber play part II:

Intro Gummi Klinik

"Bend over and cough!"

What first comes to mind when people think of doctors? Usually, most of us have a rather distinct and well founded fear of anything medical. Hmm, could it be the needles that freak people out? Perhaps it's the incredibly delicious sterile smell that greets us when we first step foot into a hospital. Or is it the loss of control and the handing of oneself over to another person generally deemed more knowledgable than they? Whatever the reason, it's a very natural human reaction not wanting to be poked, prodded or anything else at the hands of a potentially "cruel" overseer. That's the reaction of most people, but then again.. we aren't most people now are we?

Kinksters like us LOVE the fear, anticipation and excitement of either taking or losing control. The sterile smell of the environment turns us on. The bright gleam of the instruments echo our love of shiny objects. Even the rustling crunch of the "not-yet-sat-upon" examination table paper is enough to make the mouth of a medical fetishist water with delight. Some are aroused by the cold, clinical aspect of this scene yet for others the appeal of a warm and caring uniformed nurse or doctor does it for them.

This enticing dance between fear of doctors/nurses and an obvious corresponding excitement spawned a form of kink play known as medical fetishism, also sometimes referred to as 'med play.' But since we're rubberlustful latex lovers, this article touches on a kissing cousin of med play known as 'gummi klinik' from the German words for 'rubber' and 'clinic' respectively. Just consider 'gummi klinik' to be the rubber intensive counterpart of Med Play.

At this point in time you're either:
A) a kinky med player who already knows the deal about klinik play...
B) still unsure about this fetish, but you're keeping an open mind...
C) a gummi klinik newbie who is ready to jump into this fetish hood first...
D) frightfully afraid of me and my scary articles, doctors freak you out to NO end...

Regardless of your experience with or exposure to medical play, there is next to no information on the web regarding medical play procedures. Where applicable, as with my previous article, I will include any sites to what little information/toys are available in this scene. Most sites you will encounter on a "google" search for med play will be member sites or professional Mistresses offering to play nurse with you for a fee. That leaves little-to-no recourse for Lifestyle players to get accurate, reliable information on this topic. So here I am to save the day and share what I know. Yes, yes..you can thank me later. Many of the experienced players in this scene either were nurses/doctors at one time or another, are friends with a kink-aware medical professional (in my case, my sister is a registered nurse and teaches me safe medical play procedures) or they were taught these procedures by someone else already in the scene with years of hands-on experience. It's definitely a hands-on sort of scene. You most assuredly cannot learn the ins and outs of medical fetishism from reading alone and it definitely helps to learn hands-on from another person more knowledgable than yourself. At SOME point in time the player needs to get his or her head out of a book and get their latex gloved hands on a patient.

First things first, we'll touch on the various sub categories of this fetish that make up gummi klinik. Undoubtedly something will be left off. With that being said, I have elected to leave off electro torture in this treatise intentionally. Although many players do combine electro-stimulation in conjunction with med play because most any medical instrument comes in an electrical form, the topic is too broad to include here and is not an integral part of gummi klinik as a whole.

The topics covered will be:
- urine therapy
- enemas
- catheterization
- sounding
- saline injections
- intubation
- piercings (play/permanent)
- institutional bondage and restraints
- anal probing
- sterilization of equipment
- creating the clinical environment

Now, before I jump into the rubbery world of gummi klinik, let me pass some free motherly advice to you all. Medical play can be one of the more dangerous forms of edge play. Once again, I won't lie to you all. Just like a real doctor can be sued for malpractice, imagine if said doctor never even went to SCHOOL for medicine! For the sheer vast majority out there, that would be just about each and every one of us (excluding the players that are in the medical field as I've stated earlier.) We are lay people playing doctor. YOU ARE NOT A DOCTOR OR A NURSE (damn you mean I'm not?) I know i just burst several bubbles out there but oh well. The truth hurts and the fact of the matter is that med play often involves real medical equipment without real medical knowledge behind it. Just be safe and use your brain, if something seems like a bad idea.. it probably is.

With each topic I will cover equipment used and where it can be purchased, safety concerns, and procedural methods.

A few DO's and DO NOTS are as follows:
DO NOT do anything above your skill level.
DO NOT neglect cross contamination concerns (I so cannot stress this enough!!).
DO NOT force anything into any openings, usually a gentle hand is more than sufficient.
DO NOT delude yourself into thinking you're as capable as a real doctor, that is dangerous.
DO be careful about the health of your bottom.
DO read anything you can get your hands on regarding the procedure you're about to perform..especially if you have no hands on training prior.
DO NOT hesitate to call off a scene if you feel its getting away from you.
DO remember to put on sterile latex gloves for any procedure performed (no that's not just my latex glove fetish talking..it's important to have clean hands.)
DO make sure that your bottom has no undisclosed health problems.
DO NOT place electrical currents above the waist and this includes arms, hands and faces. If someone has an undetected heart murmur it could kill them.
DO have safe fun!!

The first topic covered will be 'urine therapy.'
