So back on the scene after a month away and what a great one to kick off with, the evergreen Club Subversion at Hub in Central London, doing their ‘tie-in’ for the Japanese Rope Bondage Festival. With the theme ‘In Japan’ most of the clientele turned Japanese for the night, in a mixture of Manga, Cosplay, traditional, martial arts, Hentai and Zentai costumes fetishized and rubberized in a wild array of Oriental colours.
Unpretentious and less achingly cutting-edge it was almost a relief to have a club with the usual amusements in place and have such a warm and inviting atmosphere. A number of devotees happily promoted the fact that Subversion is the ideal fetish club for first-timers. Indeed it is, so one for taking newbies…
Split into five spaces – two bars, two play areas, and a nightclub downstairs – there was always somewhere to go for a mood or crop swing. Sapphire Rox, my plus one, and I liked the chill-out play area that came with a diner and encouraged conversation and socializing. It’s so easy to forget these nights are full of educated people looking to learn more and it was a pleasure to see fellow perves engage without having to bellow above excessively loud and obnoxious music. It seemed to us an excellent blend of seasoned BDSM practitioners and exhibitionists looking to parade their outfits.
Hosted by scene star Mistress Absolute the venue facilitated top London dominatrixes such as Countess de Jager, decked out in full Japanese geisha regalia and Ms Tytania, who in a silver catsuit (Libidex?) expertly held her slave in shibari rope bondage and sat on him around and beyond midnight. The play areas were among the best I’ve seen, not only for having more than a dozen pieces of kinky furniture for public debasing but also for their cleverly-lit and non-intimidating ambience.
Downstairs an amusingly incompetent but friendly bar, where the only lemons present were the staff, preceded a dance-floor that presented some bold beat-dropping and varied genres of eclectic grooves. Lots of topless dudes having it here. Sapphire liked this room so much she nearly lost her bag.
Based in E1, Hub is accessible from Aldgate, Tower Hill and Tower Gateway tube plus a bus station, so there are plenty of options. If you’re flying in on a budget I have to mention Marlin apartments who do rooms for around a hundred quid a night (around 113 Euros) which is a good split for couples, and better than a hotel.

Jackson you are so funny, this slice of London fetish life makes me want to dash down from Inverness and join in the next Subversion.
Thank you Garlor. Well the Inverness train is only…what 4 hours away?
Hi, and thanks for mentioning me in your blog. I found this blog while looking at my hit counter, what a surprise! You are now bookmarked, gentleman.
Kinkiest regards,
